Weekly Design Inspiration: Wrap it Up!

With the holidays just around the corner, we are all searching for fresh and innovative styling for presents this year. Lately, people have enjoyed the more handmade look to gifts, which allows for tons of options! Whether you want to reduce your use, get crafty, or take on the traditions, we have the inspo for you!

Weave a Story

Many other cultures have used fabric wrapping for centuries and it’s time to appreciate all of the opportunities that the look provides! Try to get a durable fabric in a variety of sizes to accommodate all of the presents. If you can’t invest all at once, just buy a few wraps every year. Remember, these wraps are an investment that will last for years. They can even double as a bag for the recipient! Tuck some twigs into the folds and you’re in a winter wonderland.

Stick to It!

If you view Christmas as an artistic outlet, maybe you should consider doing some arts and crafts with your gifts! Taking the time to create a motif or scene for your gifts is a gesture that shows your loved ones how much you care. Creating intricate folds, adding wooden elements, and creating a rainbow of craft paper are all ways to express your creativity. Wrapping paper origami is not only therapeutic, but also makes for a dramatic effect. It will almost be too perfect to open!

Traditionally Speaking

There’s always a part of us that will love the look of big bows under the tree. The extravagance of the ribbon feels regal and timeless. Fabric choice is important; choose a weighty fabric like velvet or chiffon to get that expensive feeling. Moody colours like plum, black, and navy provide a modern twist on the traditional look. Ribbon curls and layered bows only add to the volume of the look. Choose a contrasting accent colour to make the look pop!

Design Tip: If you’re trying to keep the wrapping budget to a minimum, a roll of twine and craft paper has always proven to be a good choice. If you can even get some ink and a stamp, you can create some special DIY wrapping paper!
