Local Feature: Coffee, Shoes, and Chocolate, Oh My!
The holiday season is in full swing and there are few things that warm our hearts more than Christmas in the Ottawa Valley! We love our community here and the people who have gone above and beyond to welcome us over the years. After spending so much time alone these past couple of years, we have come to realize just how much we need our local businesses! So we decided to create a new segment that speaks to the fantastic local talent here in the Valley.
Ottawa Valley Coffee Shop:
No list of stores that we love would be complete without naming the Ottawa Valley Coffee Shop! These guys are not only a small business of their own--but they have gone above and beyond to collaborate with other small businesses. The mugs featured in-store are for sale and handcrafted by artisans! They use ethical beans that support so many great initiatives and have in-house displays for environmentally-friendly clothing. What more do we need to say?

Scott’s Shoe Store:
There’s no way around it--winter has officially come. To get us prepared for the season, we love Scott’s Shoe Store. They have tons of options for all of your shoe needs. Call us crazy, but we love to explore new trails during the winter, and Scott’s keeps their winter-ready boots in stock all season long. However, there are few things more comforting than slipping into a pair of slippers after a long trek outside. Luckily for us, we just got some from Scott’s! Scott’s also is a community builder; they will often run programming like coat drives in order to spread the wealth.

J&J’s Chocolate Sensation:
There’s no easy way to say it: stocking stuffers are HARD. That’s why we go to J&J’s Chocolate Sensation in Renfrew. These people know their stuff and have tons of variety to make every gift special. Their baskets are perfect for hosting gifts and White Elephant parties! We personally are always munching on their chocolate-dipped oreos and chocolate-drizzled caramel popcorn. Plus if you’re looking for that element of surprise, their hot-chocolate bombs are the perfect pop of joy on those long winter nights.
