Weekly Design Inspiration: Sunsets & Interiors

We spend all of our time outside in the summer from morning until night. That includes watching as many sunsets as we possibly can! The sights, smells and colours of a summer evening is a feeling that we are constantly trying to recreate. This week, we’re bringing the outside in! Yellows, oranges, and pinks are all the rage in these happy-go-lucky homes and we’re obsessed!

Mellow Yellow

Forever one of the happiest colours in the rainbow, yellow has long been out of the spotlight and we can’t wait to bring it back! Yellow is so versatile and can range from a soft, buttery yellow to an intense mustard and companies have started to bring it back. You can find rich yellows in everything from paint, to art, to tiles. Use coordinating decor for a tonal look or match with green for a charming mid-mod look.

Ode to Orange

Orange is often one of the unsung heroes in interior design. It can achieve such a wide variety of looks, ranging from a soft indie look to a vibrant graphic ode to the 70s. We love matching orange with the global design style because it brings the world to your door. Sage greens, china blues, and creamy ivories all play with the eclectic nature of the colour. For a modern look, pair with black and white fixtures.

Pretty in Pink

Pink will always be a colour of sophistication and no one can convince us otherwise. To avoid going too bubblegum, choose a muddled pink with grey and brown tones that ground the colour. This colour pairs well with jewel-tones that work no matter what the time of year is. Historic homes would benefit from having the balance of neutrality and gaiety, bringing the space back to the cheeky humor of the period.

Design Tip: If you’re intent on having an outdoor oasis inside then be sure to bring the plants in as well! Olive trees and lemon trees definitely add to that summer feeling.
