Weekly Design Inspiration: Study Up!

As we get back into that school spirit, some of us might be looking around our houses and realizing that there’s no room for the long nights of homework ahead. Kids need space to spread out and a place that inspires them. For those that have had to endure online learning you know that organization is key so we are going to show you some rooms that feature form and function.

Wild Child

Spunky kids deserve spunky spaces! We love the idea of infusing some fun-loving spirit into a space for kids. Kids love to have things to fidget with and energizing colours to help them focus. Wallpaper, paint, and unique finds are your friends here. Don’t decorate the space for adults--be sure to put out some of your kids’ treasures, favourite books, and maybe even a toy or two. The more invested your kids are in their space, the more they will respect it.

Schoolhouse Daze

For those of us who love the vintage look, kids’ spaces are one of the most fun rooms to decorate! Old school is the new school when you choose schoolhouse-inspired lighting, seating, and decor. Your room can draw inspiration from woodland creatures and storybooks. Mix wood tones with pure colours for a charming cohesive look!

New Kid on the Block

Sometimes you can design a space entirely for your kids. Other times your homework stations need to be multi-use or grow with your older children. Contemporary workstations are the perfect solution for those in newer builds. Stick to a neutral palette and natural materials with a muted tone for an accent. Choose chairs with clean lines but that are also comfortable for kids to sit in for long periods of time.

Design Tip: Don’t forget to take into account that your kids are likely going to get a little messy. Create spots for creative outlets by incorporating things like cork boards while also ensuring that you have lots of storage space.
