Weekly Design Inspiration: In the Mood for Love

Turning leaves and spiced scents are just around the corner and we cannot wait! Fall weather means hot drinks, cozy sweaters, and yes, rich colours. We can’t help but be inspired by the nature around us and how it effortlessly blends into our spaces. If you’re looking to add some autumnal hues to your home, take a peek at some of our favourite looks!

Forest for the Trees

Wood never goes out of style. Whether you’re into contemporary, traditional, or mid-century modern designs, there is always a place for wood. To really get that cocoon-like feeling, consider adding a ceiling treatment or built-ins. Wooden legs on your furniture pieces are also a nice touch! Mid-tone wood is having a big comeback and we love it!

I Love Olive

When leaves change their colours and take centre stage, evergreens become even richer and can vary from hunter green to emerald green and everything in-between! Personally, we love olive tones and find that it’s a great transitional colour that works in the summer and the fall. It adds an air of statliness to any study and an artsy vibe to any living space. Pair it with greenery for maximum impact!

Paint the Town Red

We can’t help but fall for burgundy every year. The velvety colour is reimagined in paint, upholstery, and drapery and seems like the perfect backdrop to a nice cup of apple cider. If you’re worried about committing to a deep tone then use it sparingly. An accent chair or pillow can still have a massive impact when it’s set against neutrals. Whether you love oxblood, chocolate, or maroon, deep reds are having a moment!

Design Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match when it comes to deep and rich tones. For example, burgundy goes beautifully with wood and navy, or even cocoa! Heavier tones can communicate a traditional look, an eclectic look, or even a preppy nod to Americana.
