Weekly Design Inspiration: Self-Spaces

After being at home for so long, we know that our homes can cause stress. But what if we redesigned them to serve us instead? Our lifestyles are changing and our homes need to change with us. As more of us work from home, we are moving to more remote areas and have less reason to travel into the city! However, some of us still miss the comforts of wellness spaces, spas, and gyms. Let’s take a look at how people are integrating these spaces into their lives!

Wellness Room

More and more we are realizing how much our mental wellbeing contributes to our overall wellness and how preventative pratices can keep us healthy for longer. Wellness rooms are becoming a huge trend in the design world and we think that they are here to stay. The beauty of this trend is that it’s totally up to your interpretation. Fill the room with whatever you need, from pillows, to mats, to candles and even natural artifacts like coral!

Home Spa

We love a good spa day. The saunas, the scents, and the lotions are all things that we just can’t live without! At the end of a long week, you just want to feel pampered. However, you don’t need to spend $100+ per visit to get the same results at home. Bamboo and teak work really well with water and get you that modern lodge look! Stock up on your favourite bath salts, invest in an oversized tub with jets, and hang some eucalyptus for a relaxing Sunday. Be sure to keep the space neat and pay attention to details like folded towels to treat yourself like the star that you are.

Home Gym

Whether you love it or hate it, fitness is undeniably something that helps us be at our best for ourselves and our loved ones. Yet, that doesn’t mean that your home gym has to have the same commercial feel like most gyms have. Choose design concepts that will make you want to work out every day. If you don’t feel like mirrors will be productive to your health, opt for a large window instead. Calming colours and natural textures will likely help to connect you back to yourself as well.

Design Tip: If you need to have any tech in your spaces look for options that hide the tech, like the Samsung Frame TV! They maintain a stress-free environment but are conveniently available when you need them.
