Weekly Design Inspiration: Are You Ready for Fall?
Yes, it’s that time of year again. Whether you are screaming for a Pumpkin Spice Latte or in complete denial of the cooler weather to come...fall is here!
But with the shorter days of autumn come the beautiful soft oranges and reds. What better way to welcome them with some fresh fall decor for your front or back porch.
If you’re anything like me you love to cozy up next to a backyard fire with hot cider and roasted marshmallows. The smell of the fire combines so nicely with the autumn leaves. I look forward to it every year. I love placing coordinating throw blankets on my deck chairs to make it easy for any guests who have gotten chilled to warm up.
Apple picking anyone? A touch of plaid and a display of apples in a bowl or on a wreath give that subtle “its fall” vibe if pumpkins aren’t necessarily your thing.
Chrysanthemums are a great long lasting flower to decorate your porch with this fall. Get them before they bloom for the longest lasting display. They come in a variety of colours so you can easily match them to your decor.
Dried Wreaths are a perfect way to welcome you home after a long day and greet your guests. Pick something seasonally appropriate and if you prefer a pop of colour consider magnolia leaves or dried red berries.
Coordinate your throw pillows with your florals and a statement side table for maximum impact. Remember the rule of threes to help you design and choose complimentary neutrals for best results.
Decorative pumpkins make great runners on stairs or along the front porch. Pick different sizes and shapes and coordinate them with lanterns, baskets, and urns for a wow-worthy entryway.
Don’t forget to dress your table for fall vibes! I love how moody this outdoor dining table looks with the orange water glasses and the brass vases. Cheesecloth makes a great natural runner for the wood table to show its rustic side. What better place for a thanksgiving dinner with family?
Personally, Fall is my absolute favourite season but there is no denying that I’m dreading what comes afterwards … have I mentioned how much I dislike Winter?
