Weekly Design Inspiration: Magnolia X Loloi
When cozying up on the couch, or getting into your plush bed, textiles get to take centre stage. However, we usually stick to a pretty limited palette for these items in order to maintain a classic, timeless look. Yet, there is an often-forgotten item that you can have a little more fun with, and that is a rug! In store, we are currently carrying a wide variety of pieces, including Joanna Gaines’ designs, as featured below!
Line it Up
For a more streamlined look, rugs with geometric patterns can be a great starting point. They can also be a fantastic way to incorporate a masculine take on a rug. The shapes and lines in the rug pair well with other items that have strong silhouettes, like end tables and squared-off sofas. The natural modernity of the pattern lends itself to so many styles, whether you're juxtaposing it with a historic home or rolling it out in your new loft. Check out these Magnolia Homes rugs from the Newton Collection and the Holloway Collection!
Flower Power
Some of us appreciate a more delicate touch, looking for floral rugs that feel effortless and airy. Don’t be put off by grandma’s florals of yesteryear; many of the styles now feel fresh and modern. Some patterns simply give off the essence of a flower without being too literal. Blues, yellows, pinks, and greens are all great tones to complement the pattern. Below, we’ve featured Joanna Gaines’ rugs from the Annie Collection, the Lindsay Collection, and the Lucca Collection!
Tone it Down
If you don’t feel ready to make a commitment to colour or pattern, there’s nothing wrong with going for a tone-on-tone rug! The colours for tone-on-tone rugs are usually pretty neutral, so you don’t have to commit to a trendy colour, and the pattern is usually understated by the colour consistency, so you won’t tire of a dramatic look. These rugs are also great to pair with other rugs that are bolder in colour and/or texture. We are loving the Myra Collection, the Rowan Collection, and the Sarah Collection from Magnolia Homes!
Design Tip: In design, few things are worse than a rug that is the wrong size for the room. Generally, you want the rug to fit under all of the furniture. If you find that a big pricey, or if the space is especially large, then just make sure that the rug fits under the front two legs of your furniture pieces.
