Weekly Design Inspiration: Hardware with Soft Touches
Here at CPD, we are firm believers that even the smallest details add up to have the biggest impact. Paying attention to the details of a home is what gives it character and lets people know more about you. One of the ways to infuse life into your home is by choosing the right hardware for your cabinetry. Today we’re going to show you some of our favourite looks right now, including painted, porcelain, and crystal knobs that all ooze personality!
Paint the town
We are loving the pared-back look of painted hardware right now. As lovers of the English Cottage look, we appreciate that painted knobs speak to the simplicity of a country home. Often, antique pieces have simple wooden handles that are either left natural or painted to match the piece. We love the monochromatic look of the painted hardware and the fact that it allows the millwork as a whole to be the star. This minimal look combines the practicality of hardware with the simplicity of integrated pulls.
Porcelain beauty
Another look that has experienced a revival lately is the porcelain knob! The porcelain knob has so much variety, which makes it a great option for different aesthetics. Also, it’s incredibly durable and ages beautifully! For this look, you could either go with a simple, rounded porcelain knob, or you could go for something with a bit more flair and opt for a painted knob! This look is an instant charmer marrying the concept of country craftsmanship with artistry. In fact, we love this so much, we incorporated this detail in the #thecpdhouse.
crystal clear
For those of us who love the jewelry-like quality of hardware, we suggest investing in crystal knobs! Similarly to the porcelain, crystal knobs come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. They sparkle in the light and complement any dishes on display while also echoing the colour of the cabinetry with its translucency. We like that the crystal knob has a historic quality to it which allows it to feel luxurious while also reminding us of a simpler time.
Design Tip: Don’t be afraid to go antique shopping to find the perfect knob! The porcelain and crystal knobs wear very well so you should be able to find some vintage pieces with their own unique story!
