Weekly Design Inspiration: Floor Lamps

It’s that time of year, when the days start getting shorter and the nights get a little colder. Many of us go into a semi-hibernation for the next few months, spending more time at home with loved ones. Whether you’re catching the Leafs’ game or reading your latest library pick, floor lamps add the warmth that we so desperately need. In the CPD store, we carry lots of different varieties, with options to suit your unique style.

Mid-Mod Love

Mid-century modern remains one of our favourite styles, and for good reason. The blend of streamlined silhouettes with metallic tones reminds us of a bygone era; records playing in the background, cocktails being poured, and a game of charades being played. These lamps are so versatile and make the perfect couch companion. We’re highlighting the Stanton lamp from our store!

Farmhouse for the Floor

Modern farmhouse has been an influential player these last couple years, being picked up by designers like Joanna Gaines, so it’s no wonder that we want a little taste of this style in our own spaces. Lamps are already a romantic notion, adding to the overall ambiance of the space. Add to them some fabric, some texture, and you have a statement piece that elevates your home and makes for the perfect reading companion. Shown here is the Curves lamp from the CPD store which is one of our favourites!

Contemporary Bliss

For those of us that lean into the clean, simplified, contemporary style, it can be hard to find lighting that feels inviting. So many fixtures can seem harsh and bare. The key is to ensure that your fixture has a way to diffuse the light. Contemporary lamps work in new spaces with clean lines, in older spaces with character, and just about everywhere in between. Matte blacks and matte whites are a surefire way to achieve the contemporary look. How cute is our Reade lamp!

Design Tip: If you already have lighting in your space but are wondering how to take it to the next level, consider working in levels. You may have table lamps, but add in a ceiling fixture and a floor lamp for a more dynamic feel!
