Weekly Design Inspiration: Hallowed Halls

Bubble, bubble, decor and trouble! The end of the month is near, and if you have been looking for some last-minute inspo, we are here to deliver. Whether you love the creepy crawlies or you just want to have a bit of lighthearted fun, there’s a decor idea for you to try! Table spreads, living spaces, and exteriors all get the spooky treatment this year.

Terrifying Tables

If you’re hosting a scary supper or just having fun with the family, dining tables are the perfect canvas to create a story. Design the table in layers to build up the drama. Depending on your aesthetic, you can use anything from jack-o-lanterns, candles, skulls, garlands, spell books, and more! If you want an elevated but still spooky experience, opt for some details with a dramatic flair, like black candles and moody foliage.

Eek-Worthy Exteriors

The outside of your house is usually all that the little trick or treaters get to see on Halloween, so make it a moment to remember! This can also double as the perfect place for a family photoshoot. Remember to match the scale of your house when thinking about decorations. If you have a cascading staircase, that probably means you might need a few more pumpkins to get the full look. Bats in mid-flight and suspended decorations are very immersive and effective! Lanterns might be a spooky and safe addition if you don't have street lamps.

Lived-in Living Spaces

Entryways and living spaces are the places that you and your family will get to enjoy the most, so don’t be afraid to really create a scene. Details are everything when you’re decorating a large space or creating a vignette. Crows, books, candelabras, and art are all understated ways to build up a creepy storyline. Invite unexpected guests like the friendly skeleton to join in on the weeknight movie for added fun!

Design Tip: Wherever possible, choose authentic materials and decorations. Vintage books, art, and candle holders all add their own unique twist to the story that you’re creating. Plus, there’s a good chance that these will last longer than some newer pieces!
