Weekly Design Inspiration: Coffee Table Vignettes (Copy)

We love any opportunity to create a moment in our house. We know that small things make a big impact. However, coffee tables aren’t just for show, they’re also used as tables and ottomans for casual couch loungers. For that reason, you need to choose a setup that will look great but will also work for your family. There are so many ways to decorate your coffee table and it can be overwhelming so we’ve picked a few of our favourite methods including seasonal decor, playing with scale, and using nature as inspiration.

The Season is the Reason

We are lovers of all holidays and are game for any excuse to dress up the house. With every season there comes a way to take inspiration from the weather and incorporate those elements into your home! In the spring, use soft elements like sprigs of flowers and delicate elements like china. In the winter, use dried berries and branches and drape a blanket across the table. Summer is a great time to set out fun servingware for an afternoon lemonade!

The High Low Game

One of the most underrated elements of design is scale. This also applies to your coffee table. Choose a tall vase and place it beside stacked books or a low bowl filled with wooden beads. Think of styling as if you’re building a staircase; building up tiers and layers. Also think horizontally and use wide accessories. Create space by opening a book and displaying it across the table or using a large tray in your vignette!

Neat Nature

When in doubt, let nature be your guide. The wide world of plants and flowers are an endless resource for design and inspiration. A bonsai tree is the perfect conversation starter while pampas leaves create an instantly relaxing environment. For special occasions create a full look with layered plants and flowers. Create depth with colours and differentiation!

Design Tip: Don’t forget to think about scent as well! Candles and incense set the tone for the space and can be transformative after a long day. Invest in small luxury items like a wick trimmer and candle snuffer to make you feel like a million bucks!
