Weekly Design Inspiration: Trends for 2023

As one year comes to an end and another one begins we love to sit down and look at what people will be gravitating towards in the design world for the upcoming year. Not only does this allow us to future-proof our projects but it also gets us excited about the future of the industry! Don’t worry; we’ve done the heavy lifting for you and compiled a few of our favourite trends for 2023. We are going to discuss monochromatic rooms, a rebellion against status-vintage, and what colours we’re gravitating towards.

Monochromatic mania

We love the idea of wrapping ourselves up in a fabulous room where everything coordinates and looks chic and laid-back at the same time. If you’re with us then let us introduce you to monochromatic rooms. There are several ways to go about achieving the look: you can either go with entirely one shade for baseboards, walls, trim, and ceilings or you can design a whole room with more colour variants. Either way you will achieve a storybook-like perfection that provides a sense of calm that washes over you. Who doesn’t want to start the new year like that?

get thrifty

Year after year we see a growing movement to incorporate more vintage pieces into our home and we’re thrilled about it. However this also creates an increased demand for the “it” pieces like the Herman Miller Eames Chair or the Noguchi Coffee Table. Instead of spending your life savings on a piece that has already saturated the market, why not look for something that you like simply because it speaks to you? This year we are definitely going to still feel the presence of preloved pieces but they might be items that you haven’t seen on your timeline before and may never see again.

wrap it up

For all of the homebodies out there this one’s for you. Although we still adore our creams, almonds, and mushrooms, our spaces are growing up and feeling a little moodier. Be prepared to see darker, bolder interiors in 2023. If the thought of a more saturated hue scares you, don’t fret; just because the colours are more intense doesn’t mean that you can’t soften them up with different profiles and accessories!

Design Tip: Although we always love a good home refresh, don’t think that you have to incorporate all of these trends! Find spots like a nook here or a corner there to test out things that speak to you and focus on curating your home over time.
