Shop With Me: Accent-uate the Positive!

Here at CPD we are firm believers that everything in your house should say something about you. That’s why we love accent chairs that ooze personality! The textile, silhouette, and scale of the piece all communicate something to your guests. Some decisions are made due to size while others are chosen for practicality purposes. Today we’re taking you on a trip across the internet to show what accent chairs are inspiring us.

just wing it

In case you can’t tell, we are big fans of mixing the old with new. Wing chairs, once a thing of the past, have come back with a vengeance as people return to a mix of open- and closed-concept homes. The wing chair was originally designed to prevent drafts when sitting by the fire and we still embrace that idea of cosiness when selecting our finishes!

We are loving this one and can’t wait to find a place to use this gorgeous piece!

clubhouse

We adore a good, old-fashioned club chair. It’s masculine by nature which we love to lean into but can also be reinterpreted as incredibly feminine! At the end of the day it’s simply an extremely comfortable chair that has been popular since its invention and will continue to be in many homes. If you’re intimidated by the scale of it them be sure to break it up with accent pillows and throws!

We consider this one a staple and this one is a new favourite!

lounge act

Although lounge chairs don’t often get the comfy, oversized treatment, they are still fantastic pieces to either have as additional seating to the side or for a small-scale living room. There are so many choices when it comes to lounge chairs like whether you want upholstered arms or exposed legs which allows for so much creativity! If you have a small space consider doing a skirted option as legs on the coffee table and the chairs can be visually overwhelming.

We can’t get enough of this piece and we just added this beauty to our cart!

Shop Tip: Do your research on the fabric quality before buying a piece and learn about double-rubs and other testing. If you are picking out an accent chair that will barely get used, you’ll likely want a different fabric than your reading chair that gets used every single day!
