Weekly Design Inspiration: Work From Home Essentials

With so many of us working from home right now, it’s important for you to create a better Work From Home setup for yourself.

Now I’m sure many of your are working from your dining room table which is okay, but lets try to find you spot to set up shop - somewhere away from all the distraction and a place where you can be more productive.

That could be small corner in your home, in your basement, guest bedroom - anywhere you see fit. This is not about creating an entire, permanent home office but creating a space for yourself can have serious positive effects.

To help you along, I’ve created a list of cost effective purchases you can easily make (online).

I’ve included a desk, chair, artwork, table lamp and a few accessories - some to keep you organized and some that are just pretty and all for under $500.00!

To start, I selected a neutral desk from Ikea. It’s not only attractive and cost effective, but it has storage which is always an added bonus.

*Tip - this desk can always be moved to another room in your house down the road. I think it would function equally well and be great as a console table in your front foyer.

Having sufficient light is so import and let’s be honest … if we are trying to find a secluded space in our house, it might not have the best lighting. I love this concrete lamp; it offers amazing texture and the neutral colour pairs perfectly with everything.

Having something personal and pleasant to look at makes the space feel intentional and homey. I selected this amazing print by Juniper Print Shop. If you’re not familiar with them, then you must check them out! You can purchase a digital version and have it printed yourself or they will do everything for you.

I paired it with this simple gold frame from Ikea and boom, we have art.

Up next, the chair. I love the deep rich tones of the wood on this chair from Structube and the fact that it has a cushioned seat is an added bonus; especially with all the sitting we are doing.

*Tip - repurpose the chair afterwards by moving it into a bedroom or another area of your home.

Organization is always key, so this desktop file organizer from Indigo is not only pretty, but equally functional. At only $17, you can easily take it with you to your work office outside of the home to spruce up your desk.

With all the hand washing we are doing, moisture is critical. This Magnolia Home hand cream from Pick It Fence is simply essential.

And last but not least, who doesn’t love candles. I love Saje Wellness for so many reasons and this candle “Silence” made out of natural soy wax is the perfect finishing piece.
