Weekly Design Inspiration: Statement Wall

If you’re looking to spice up a room or do a makeover on a budget, look no further than a feature wall. There are so many ways to get the look that you are after. Many of them you can do by yourself as long as you’re willing to put in a little time and effort! So whether you love the simple painted look, the delicate wallpapers, or the timeless paneled wall, there is a look that will suit your home.

Paint the Town

It’s been said time and again: paint is one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to change your space. As many people look to add more personality to their white walls, consider what your goals are. If you have high ceilings and would like to highlight the space, paint the wall and run it up onto the ceiling. If you would like to add interest to the hallway consider painting the doors with exaggerated arches. One of our favourite ideas is to paint a wall in the nursery as a backdrop to the crib!

Paper Weight

Wallpaper is generally one of the more expensive applications to consider. However, if you feature it in small doses, you can still achieve the same look! Peel and stick wallpaper is a great option for those who are renting or for those with small kids. Styles like Grandmillenial have also come back in style, giving the trend some extra weight. This trend can easily be paired with a complementary paint as well!

On the Panel

There are so many paneling options and inspiration images out there. We love this trend, and we feel that adding millwork to a home can only give it more character. The look feels so expensive, and can either be painted or stained. Beadboard and fluted paneling are just a few of the options available to you, so be sure to check out different looks and see what looks work for you!

Design Tip: Plan out where you would like to add feature walls. Although statement walls are a great addition to any home, they have more impact when used sparingly!
