Weekly Design Inspiration: Staircases
Your stairs are one of the first things guests (and you) see upon entering your home. When building or remodelling, you want to ensure you give this feature lots of thought and consideration.
You’ll want it to reflect the overall aesthetic of your home, so think about the handrail, newels, risers and most importantly the balusters.
Design and Weld
When I’m designing a staircase, the balusters (also known as spindles) are one of the first elements I focus on. I’m sure everyone approaches it differently but for me, they are a very important part of the overall look and feel and they are my kicking off point.
Here are some styles I really love.

Materials
When it comes to what material you should use, the world is your oyster.
Wood
Wood provides tons of versatility and gives your home a timeless look.

Glass
Glass allows a lot of light to flow through and if you know me, you know how much I love natural light. It can provide a transitional look or be taken to the modern side of things.

Metal
I’m currently crushing on metal but only simplistic versions. Nothing ornate for me!

Stone or Concrete
I don’t think people give enough thought to this as an option.
Stone and concrete are for those who love a traditional classic look but it can also be fitted in a contemporary style. Patience is key ... as they take time to be made - but the results are so worth it!!
