Weekly Design Inspiration: How to incorporate Classic Blue into your decor

Pantone has announced their colour of the year for 2020 and we are loving it! There’s nothing more classic than a blue, and that’s why Pantone’s colour of the year this year is Classic Blue 19-4052.

Described as being suggestive of the sky at dusk and thought-provoking by Pantone, why wouldn’t you want this colour represented in your home?

Whole Mood

Whole Mood

We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on. Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.

Accent Walls

Paint a wall or two, or why don’t you go ahead and paint them all?! Blue is such a versatile colour, it really can be used in any room. If you’re painting more than just an accent wall, be sure that your room has a lot of light to counter the darkness of the paint colour, unless you’re going for a more moody look.

I love the use of natural materials in this room, not to mention the pairing with that beautiful peachy wall!

Accent Decor

Easily incorporate the colour of the year with accent decor like cushions, rugs and blankets. Mix and match with solid and patterned designs to keep things interesting.

These blue cushions add a romantic and homey vibe to this otherwise neutral room. A perfect focus piece.

Accent Furniture

Although investing in new furniture may be costly, a more cost effective and eco-friendly option is to reupholster, repurpose or repaint pieces you already own.

I love this statement piece! Styled with various shades of blues, greens and gold. A perfect mix between a cottage and seaside feeling is achieved in this room.

Cabinetry

You know I love a statement kitchen! These blue cabinets are so versatile, I love how they can be paired with white stone countertop to create a clean, modern look or mixed in with a warm wood to create a more country, warm feeling!

Not sold on the blue kitchen cabinetry? This colour would look great in a bathroom or laundry room.

Tile

You knew this was coming! If only Tile Thursday was everyday! Forget the blue tiled bathrooms in your grandparents or parents houses, these tiles are gorgeous!

Paired with black, chrome or brass fixtures, it looks great any way! I love how these gorgeous tiles have been used as a feature through the center of the bathroom!
