Weekly Design Inspiration: Closets

Scrolling through social media and watching TV shows and movies has probably influenced you to dream up the perfect walk in closet. You’re probably dreaming of a closet big enough to live in, perhaps with a shoe section and a stand alone island?! These dreams may be unrealistic for most of us, but its still fun to dream!

If you’re lucky enough to design a dream closet, rather than dealing with the stock standard railing that comes with most homes, you’re probably wondering what is necessary and what you can probably skip out on. Keep on reading to see some of our favourites.

How good is this shoe wall?! If only a closet redesign meant a shopping spree too!

I prefer having a specific shoe storage system or a dedicated, raised place to store my shoes to keep the space from feeling cluttered and in disarray. Keeping items on show like this also cuts down on the time it takes to find the perfect pair or just finding the matching pair all together! I love when everything has it’s own place.

Storage, storage, storage! A shelf for everything instead of opting for a cluttered drawer situation. Although, having clothes on display like this forces you to keep your laundry folded and if you’re anything like me, you hate folding laundry!

If you don’t like folding laundry, opt for a storage system that works for you, such as drawers to “stash and dash” or more hanging space to keep all of your clothes fresh and on display.

Glass doors and storage displays are perfect for a big dreamy closet. I always feel guilty putting one of my favourite bags or pairs of shoes away into the closet until they make their next appearance in my day to day wear. I wouldn’t feel so guilty if they were being displayed like this!

You can hide your clothes away while still giving them the attention and spotlight they deserve!

Everything about this closet is a YES! Cocktail anyone? Can I just live in here?!

If you’re working with a large space for your wardrobe, an island is a good way to utilize the center of the room for storage without making the room look or feel smaller.

Utilize all the space you have by adding floor to ceiling storage. I am in love with this closet, especially with that beautiful brass sliding ladder to reach the top shelves!
