Weekly Design Inspiration: Level Up your Kitchen

Sometimes a kitchen can start to feel uninspired and you’re not sure why. You’ve got the island, the nice faucet and the cabinets of your dreams but there’s something missing that would take your space from good to great! We’re going to let you in on some of our favourite tips and tricks to elevate your kitchen including where to add warmth, how to beautify your essentials, and how to add in some texture!

warm it up

If you love to spend time in your kitchen then you might already know that standing on tile or hardwood for long periods of time can be really uncomfortable. Everyone knows that adding a carpet to your living room grounds the space and adds so much warmth to the room and yet so many people don’t think to add rugs to their kitchen! Runners are a great way to not only bring in some practical comfort but it also makes the room feel much more cozy and inviting.

We are big fans of this look and this look!

everyday luxury

So often we splurge on things that hardly ever get used and we save the nice things for special occasions. We are here to say that you should use the nice things! Reaching for a nice pepper mill or a beautiful oil dispenser is something that will bring you joy each and every day and will make you want to spend more time in your kitchen! If you’re worried about “ruining” your pieces then be sure to grab pieces that will age gracefully with a patina.

It’s no secret that we love this set and we’ve also got our eye on this!

lay it on thick

Since kitchens are often forced to be practical and durable they can sometimes lack the appeal that spaces like living rooms are afforded when it comes to layering materials. Bar stools are one area where you can have a lot of fun with texture and yet so many kitchens fall flat on this front. Many people want a practical bar stool that can stand up to the abuse of everyday wear but that doesn’t mean that they have to be drab. Leather is soft and durable while a good rattan is well-made and provides a texture and transparency not often seen in kitchens.

We’re falling for this piece and equally obsessed with this look

Design Tip: If you find that the lighting in your kitchen is simply not up to snuff then consider adding a table lamp! In a space where so many things are kept tucked away and off the counter, a table lamp provides a sense of lived-in comfort that we love.
