Weekly Design Inspiration: Entertaining through the Holidays

I don’t know about you, but the holiday bug has bitten me hard this year.

I'm excited to create new holiday tablescapes, rearrange my open shelves and decorate my wet bar and sideboard to integrate new holiday decor and sweet treats to please my family. We may not have a big get-together this year but I’m not going to let that stop me from getting into the spirit. In fact, I think there are lots of ways we can be with friends and family this year - all while social distancing. I know for me, zoom is my new best friend!

I love this neutral and not overly thematic winter tablescape. The individual elements can be used throughout the year and it can be easily altered to fit your holiday colour scheme.

Gold accents can be used all year or reserved for the holidays to bring in the Christmas cheer.

I love dressing a mantle. There are just so many design directions to go. Here are a few options to get you inspired. Think outside of the box when it comes to the materials you use. Try incorporating wood elements, flowers, or ribbon.

Bar carts make a great accent feature and increase the usability of your space especially if there is no room for a wet bar. A mini tree placed in a champagne bucket makes an easy and attractive winter decor accent.

There is nothing quite like a hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Make a beverage zone on your sideboard, beverage cart, or coffee bar to cap off a winter Sunday brunch or when you want to get snuggly on the sofa!

Open shelves make a great zone for displaying some of your nicer dishes along with seasonal decor. Live pine trees bring in the scent of winter, especially when paired with some fragrant whole spices such as cinnamon sticks, nutmeg or cloves.

My main piece of advice when shopping for holiday decor is to shop for neutral elements to fill the space and add small elements of colour in later. Styles change quickly and you may fall in love with new decor elements next year.
