Weekly Design Inspiration: Coffee Table Craze

As our living spaces become larger and more used we find ourselves in awe of how many different types of coffee tables are out there! Gone are the days when you were limited to a traditional take on a table. Now you can choose from pieces with hidden storage, found items like chests, or even use something a little softer, like an ottoman. Also, how your family uses the space will be one of the deciding factors on what type of piece you’ll need.

Hideaway

Living rooms often serve a multitude of purposes; games nights, movie nights, and wine nights are often happening at our place. Since we need to accommodate so many activities we love the idea of having a coffee table with storage. However, we’re not talking about the tables of yesteryear which sacrifice the style of the piece over the function. Now you can get tables that pop up into a desk or a piece that swivels out to reveal storage underneath!

Say it With Your Chest

For us, a big part of successful design is using pieces that have been previously loved. Vintage items, whether they came from your family or someone else’s, add such a unique element to any space. The stories that come from an antique piece are one-of-a-kind; just like your home. That’s why we think that using trunks and chests as a coffee table is such a stylish and sentimental idea.

Ottoman Obsessed

Not everyone wants a formal element in their casual living space. We get it! That’s why we’re on board for using large ottomans for your living rooms. Soft fabrics are great for kids and adults and are perfect for any cozy night in. If you don’t have space for a large ottoman then just use a couple of poufs instead! They will give a similar effect without taking up so much real estate.

Design Tip: With so much variety out there it can be hard to know which shape of coffee table is best for your space. When looking at your living room, look at the shapes and silhouettes of your furniture. Rounded and curved furniture lends itself to a round coffee table. U- and L-shaped sectionals are great for a squared-off shape and of course if you get stuck, we’re always here to help!
