Shop Story: Light it Up!
No matter what space you’re trying to decorate, it can always be improved by starting with quality light fixtures. Whether you want your space to be light and bright or moody and intimate, lighting is a key player. There are different fixtures for different styles, and layering lighting is what will make your space adaptable from morning until night. In this blog, we’ll feature some of our favourites from our new store!
Let’s Table it
Table lamps are a perfect source of task lighting for nights spent reading and conversing. They also bring the illumination down to eye level, as opposed to pendants or floor lamps, creating a more diverse lighting landscape. Use it on a dresser or end table and pair with coffee table books and small plants. Here are just a few of my favourites.
Fancy a Sconce?
Wall sconces are great for throughways and entrances. A sconce along a darkened hallway or entryway is the perfect wayfinding tool. For night owls, consider putting the sconces on a dimmer so as not to interrupt your productivity time. When repeated in pairs or a pattern, they project an heir of sophistication. When used asymmetrically, as with an outdoor sconce beside the front door, it can feel fresh and inviting. How amazing are these new releases.
Hit the Ceiling
There are few things more show stopping than a dramatic feature light cascading down from the ceiling. Although smaller fixtures tie the overall aesthetic together, ceiling fixtures will communicate your style most effectively and immediately. Bigger fixtures over the island, dining table, and stairwell are key moments in a design that can be enhanced by a stunning light fixture. How great would these options be over a kitchen island!
Design Tip: Ensure that you also use the correct bulbs in your fixtures. Warmer, softer bulbs are around the 3000K mark, whereas brighter, cooler light is about 4000-5000K. Different lighting temperatures in one space can look jarring and off-putting, so try and keep it cohesive.
