Burl wood is one of those timeless details that never fails to stop us in our tracks. With its swirling grain and organic patterns, burl is the kind of design element that brings both soul and sophistication to a space.
nature’s signature
Burl wood forms when a tree undergoes stress, creating dense growth patterns that twist and turn into mesmerizing whorls and swirls. No two burls are ever the same, which means every piece—whether a slab, veneer, or sculptural accent—is truly one of a kind.
From maple and walnut to redwood and oak, burl can be found across a variety of species, each with its own distinct tone and grain. The irregularity that once made it difficult to work with is now what makes it so deeply coveted.

Burl wood has a quiet luxury to it. It doesn’t shout—it whispers. It adds instant warmth and dimension, especially when paired with sleek metals or moody stone. In our projects, we often use burl to create contrast. It plays beautifully with polished surfaces and brings a sense of grounding to more minimalist spaces. We’re especially fond of using burl in custom furniture. Think waterfall consoles or coffee tables. Frames burl panels or sculptural slices make for stunning wall moments.
