Weekly Design Inspiration: Elevate your look with lighting

Good lighting is an integral part of any room. It can be the focal point or provide the perfect accent but it is always essential. Updating your light fixtures can be a great way to set the tone of the room or introduce modernity to a classic finish or farmhouse-style design. Check out the images for how we (and some of our favourite interior designers) have used light fixtures to create unique designs tailored to our clients.

I absolutely love this pendant lantern. The clean lines paired with this shape inspire a sense of old meets new in this farmhouse style design. Borrowing old designs that have been modernized to work in this era creates a new look that can be totally unique to your home.

Black light fixtures look stylish and modern when paired with bright furnishings and a classic traditional style. These metal fixtures with clean lines matched the tone of our #stonehideaway project perfectly.

We chose a modern gold vanity lamp for our master bedroom in the #stonehideaway project. We also incorporated a mid-century modern inspired chandelier to make this bedroom so chic and relaxed all at the same time.

Traditional furnishings paired with modern and unique fixtures lend a sense of personality to the room that is not easily achieved with big box store lighting. Details are everything and thats why we made sure to find a bedside table lamp with a small touch of gold to tie into the rest of the room. I love how this lamp is modern while still lending a sense of calm and tranquility; perfect for good nights sleep.

Classical and contemporary, these silver lantern pendants accompany the stainless appliances and provided the perfect feminine touch to our #cedarbrae project kitchen. We used a slightly larger version to float above the eat-in kitchen table.

These ‘Butte’ pendant lamps by @rejuvenation contrast the brightness of this kitchen beautifully by @HouseofJadeInteriors. I love how these lamps introduce modern and contemporary stylings when paired with classic lines to create a look that is truly this century.
