Weekly Design Inspiration: Cabinet Hardware Placement Guide
Hardware is such an easy way to add big impact in your home. If you’re looking for a quick update, replacing dated hardware for something new is a great, easy fix.
Alternatively, if you have new cabinetry and aren’t sure about placement, I’ve put together some of my favourite ways to use knobs and pulls.
A general rule to follow for traditional homes is to use knobs on doors and pulls on drawers.
Sometimes, rules are made to be broken though - so I’ll switch it up and use all knobs!
In transitional or more modern spaces, knobs and pulls can be used interchangeably. Using pulls all over is another great option.
If your drawers are over 24” wide, feel free to double up. You can either use two pulls or two knobs.
Design Tip: To place the hardware correctly, divide the drawer into thirds and place the hardware in the left and right portions of the drawer.
For built in or panelled refrigerators, you can purchase appliance pulls. This will ensure your pulls are proportional to the larger panelled doors and drawers.
Design Tip: When appliance pulls aren’t available, think outside of the box. In our #stonehideaway project we used the largest sized pull available since they didn’t make appliance hardware to match and I love how it turned out.
And never be afraid to add unique hardware! Leather pulls add amazing texture and interest to this vanity.
Hopefully you finds these tips helpful, however feel free to add knobs or pulls however you like to make it work for you.
