Weekly Design Inspiration: 2024 trends!

As we embark on a new year, the world of interior design is buzzing with innovative ideas and fresh perspectives. We love to see how trends are built upon and change with every year. 2024 promises to be a year of transformation and creativity, especially for home design! This week we are looking at 3 of our favourite trends on the horizon, including Biophilic Bliss, Artisanal Accents, and Minimalist Maximalism.

biophilic bliss

In 2024, the love affair with nature continues to flourish within homes. Biophilic design, which seeks to connect inhabitants with the natural world, is our first favourite trend. This design philosophy integrates natural elements and materials, such as wood, stone, and greenery, into interior spaces. The result is a harmonious blend of the indoors and outdoors, creating a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere. Large, unobstructed windows and glass walls are becoming more popular, allowing ample natural light to flood the space while offering panoramic views of the surroundings. Indoor gardens, potted plants, and living walls bring greenery into every corner of the home, promoting better air quality and a sense of tranquility. Biophilic design fosters a deep connection with nature, making homes more inviting and health-conscious..

artisanal accents

This year, the appreciation for craftsmanship and handcrafted pieces takes centre stage. Our second favourite trend, artisanal accents, celebrates the uniqueness and character of handmade goods. Lots of homes are embracing one-of-a-kind furniture, textiles, and decor items that showcase the skills of artisans from around the world. From hand-carved wooden tables to intricately woven rugs and ceramics crafted by local artisans, these pieces add soul and authenticity to modern interiors. The imperfections and individuality of these items create a sense of warmth and personality within spaces. The trend also promotes sustainable practices by supporting local craftsmanship and preserving traditional techniques! In terms of our current favourite accents, we are absolutely captivated by the intricate textures and distinctive character that the Homeful Vintage pillows possess.

minimalist maximalism

While minimalism has long been associated with contemporary design, 2024 introduces a refreshing twist with the "Minimalist Maximalism" trend. This trend allows you to express your individuality through carefully curated collections and statement pieces within a clean, uncluttered backdrop. Minimalist Maximalism celebrates bold colours, rich textures, and eclectic decor. It encourages mixing different styles and eras, creating a unique and personalized atmosphere. The key to achieving this trend is selecting a few standout pieces that tell a story or reflect your personality, then surrounding them with a minimalist setting that allows them to shine. It's about achieving a balance between simplicity and opulence, making every element count.

Design Tip: As with any trend, we recommend dipping your toe in slowly so that you choose pieces that feel authentic to you and your home. We love making an event out of it and going to an auction!
